Fr. Agustín Anda
May 10 - 20, 2010 From Boston
It is with great pleasure and excitement that I invite you to join me on a spiritually inspiring pilgrimage to Italy with a once in a lifetime opportunity to attend the world famous Passion Play in 2010 in Oberammergau, Germany.
Our Pilgrimage starts in Rome, the Eternal City an artistic and historic gift to the world. We will visit Vatican City, Saint Peter’s Basilica, and the Vatican Museums including Michelangelo’s original frescoes in the Sistine Chapel. The highlight of our visit will be an Audience with Our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, if available.
Next we will stop in the small hilltop city of Assisi, birthplace of St. Francis. Here we will visit the Basilica of St. Francis, the Church of St. Clare and Santa Maria degli Angeli with its “thornless rose bush”. Then on to Florence, home of Michelangelo’s David and the finest collection of Renaissance art in the world.
Our last stop in Italy is Venice, the city of waterways, gondolas and picturesque bridges. We will visit the Basilica of St. Mark with its magnificent mosaics expressing the story of faith, the Dogs Palace and the Bridge of Sighs.
Then we will travel through northern Italy into the Tyrolean Alps to Innsbruck, Austria and on to Germany and the village of Oberammergau. The villagers of Oberammergau first performed the Passion Play in 1634 in fulfillment of their promise to God for sparing them from the Black Plague, and it has been presented there every 10 years since then.
The price of our tour includes roundtrip airfare, first class/select hotels, private homes/pensions in Oberammergau, most meals admission tickets for the Passion Play, the services of a professional tour director and sightseeing in a deluxe motorcoach. Nawas International Travel is making the arrangements for us to and has earned a reputation for reliability and excellence in their 59 years of business.
Our Pilgrimage will be a joyful journey designed to highlight our Catholic Faith, help us appreciate its historical pass and view the art which was inspired by the Church.
While the year 2010 seems a long way away, NOW is the time to make plans and reserve your place on the tour as space is limited. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to see the Passion Play and experience the history, culture and treasures of Italy!
